Painting exhibition: Banner of Victory
Dhaka: A solo painting exhibition by Leeton Bhuiya will begin at La Galerie in Alliance Française de Dhaka.
The Inauguration of the exhibition will be held on Tuesday, 25 August 2015 at 5:30pm.
Titled Banner of Victory, the exhibition is his 4th solo painting exhibition where he will exhibit 25 artworks. He used acrylic and mixed medium in his artworks.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy director general Liaquat Ali Lucky will be present on the occasion as the chief guest while Dr Tahmeena, associate professor at Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Holy Family Red Crescent Medical Collage and Hospital will also attend the opening as the guest of honour.
In this time of continuous unrest in the society, Leeton believes, ‘paintings are an expression of remembrance of our golden past to remind us how through sacrifices we finally achieved the “Banner of Victory”.’
During the liberation war, people came in together for their hopes and dreams to make this country free from the oppressor.
With the current situation of our country it has become essential to regain that sense of unity within ourselves. ‘Let us unite again’ — this is the message Bhuiya would like to convey through his paintings. Everything going on around the artist leave a profound impression on his mind; he considers it a sense of responsibility to express his thoughts through the ‘language’ of painting. Thus, for most of Bhuiya’s paintings, ‘emancipation’ and ‘inner strength’ appear as the central subjects.
Leeton Bhuiya is a freelancer on painting and visual arts who also writes drama/ film scripts and novel. He got his bachelor’s degree in fine arts (BFA) in 1983.
After the inauguration, the exhibition will be open to all till 31 August 2015 from Monday to Thursday (3:00pm to 9:00pm), Friday and Saturday (9:00am to12:00pm and 5:00pm to 8:00pm), except for Sunday.
