FBCCI polls: Babsayee Unnauyan Parishad wins
Dhaka: Babsayee Unnauyan Parishad, the panel led by Nitol-Niloy Group Chairman Abdul Matlub Ahmed, won the elections of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) for 2015-17, bagging 25 out of 32 director posts of both the chamber group and association group.
Matlub-led panel secured 12 out of 16 seats for directors of the chamber group and 13 out of 16 seats for directors of the association group.
Swadhinata Babsayee Parishad, led by the current first vice-president of the FBCCI Monowara Hakim Ali, bagged the four other seats of the chamber group.
Another panel Babsayee Oikya Parishad, headed by Kazi Erteza Hassan and Md Shafquat Haider Chowdhury, got three seats in the association group.
Election Commissioner, MP, Md Ali Ashraf announced the results of the elections.
The newly elected directors will vote again tomorrow to elect the president, first vice-president and vice-president of the apex trade body of the country. For the 2015-17 terms, the president and vice-president will be elected from the chamber group while the first vice-president from the association group.
