Dhaka: The budget for 2017-18 fiscal year wants a reduced tax rate of 14 percent for a readymade garment company if the factory of such a company has an internationally-recognised green building certification.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith came up with the proposal in Parliament while placing the new budget.

To keep the earth habitable for the next generation, he said, it is needed to ensure both the sustainable development and the conservation of the environment.

"Our government has undertaken various initiatives for preventing environment pollution and maintaining ecological balance. We plan to integrate the issue of environment in our tax policy," he said.
