Budget partially good, says FBCCI
Dhaka: In its instant reaction, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) on Thursday described the proposed national budget for the upcoming fiscal year as partially industry-and business- friendly one.
Md Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, president of the country's apex trade body, came up with the reaction while talking to reporters at the FBCCI Complex in the city.
Analysing different aspects of the budget, he said it will be a good budget if the government can implement the mega projects speedily.
The FBCCI president also urged the government to take initiatives for assessing the impact of 15 percent VAT before going for implementing it, and thanked the government for keeping the import tariff unchanged.
Mohiuddin urged the government to form a joint working committee with the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and FBCCI to bring an end to harassment while collecting revenues and implementing the revenue policy.
He said the FBCCI will come up with its detailed observations at a formal press conference on June 3 after analysing the budget documents, finance bill, and discussions with experts and business leaders.
