Latifur Rahman re-elected ICC executive board member
Chairman and CEO of Transcom Group Latifur Rahman has been reelected member of the Executive Board of the Paris-based International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) for a second three-year term from July this year.
The election to the board of the ICC, the world business organisation, was held in Nairobi recently during 2017 World Council, said a press release on Monday, reports the UNB.
In 2012, Latifur, also Vice President of the International Chamber of Commerce-Bangladesh (ICC-B), was awarded ‘Oslo Business for Peace Award’ by the Business for Peace Foundation, Oslo and Business Executive of the Year 2001 by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh.
He has served in many important national bodies in various capacities, including the President of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Dhaka for seven terms; President of Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF) for two terms and Member of the Executive Committee of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBBCI), Bangladesh Jute Mills Association and Bangladesh Tea Association.
He was Member of the Executive Board of Bangladesh Bank. He has been closely involved with fiscal and trade policymaking bodies of the Government as Chairman, Trade-body Reforms Committee and Member, Advisory Committee on WTO.
