Bapex wins drilling contract of KrisEnergy

Dhaka: The state-owned Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Ltd (Bapex) has won a contract from an international company to drill its two wells.
According to official sources, the Bapex, participating in an open bidding, won the contract to drill the KrisEnergy wells at Bhangura in the country.
The Singapore-based international oil company won an onshore field in Bhangura. Recently, the company invited international tender to conduct drilling in its two wells and Bapex participated in the bidding process along with other international companies. Finally, the state exploration company won the bid as competitor bidder.
‘We have been among the 10 short-listed companies by KrisEnergy and won the bid. This has been the first-ever bid won by Bapex from an international oil company,’ said Bapex managing director Atiquzzaman.
KrisEnergy holds interests in 19 licences in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam covering a gross acreage of approximately 62,293 sqkm.
