Chattogram: BNP candidate for Chattogram-2 constituency Colonel (retd) Azim Ullah Bahar and 19 of his supporters were injured as Awami League men allegedly attacked a procession in favour of ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ in Fatikchhari upazila on Sunday.
Mohammad Ibrahim, personal assistant of the BNP contestant, claimed that the followers of AL leader Taiyab swooped on Bahar and his activists around 1 pm when they brought out a procession at Muhammad Takirhat Bazar, reports the UNB.
The attack left at least 20 BNP men, including Bahar and former judge Faisal Mahmud Fayezi, injured, he said.
Ibrahim also claimed that the attackers smashed the BNP contender in the head.
The injured were taken to local upazila health complex.
