Ducsu polls: JCD begins distribution of nomination papers
Dhaka: Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of BNP, on Saturday began distributing nomination papers for the upcoming Dhaka University central students’ union (Ducsu) and hall union elections at the party’s Naya Paltan central office, reports the UNB.
‘We are ready to participate in the elections although our seven-point demands are not met yet,’ said JCD DU unit president Al Mehedi Talukder while talking to reporters at Madhur Canteen at Du campus.
Mehedi also said, ‘We are distributing nomination forms according to our norms. We hope the age limit won’t be a factor here.’
He also said that they will collect nomination papers very soon from the hall along with their panel.
Mahfuz Chowdhury, convener committee member of DU JCD Masterda Surya Sen Hall unit, also collected nomination paper.
He said, ‘We have won the last Ducsu polls by huge margin. If the election is held free and fair,we will win it undoubtedly.’
Joint Secretary General of BNP, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, BNP Publicity Affairs Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, JCD president Rajib Ahsan and other JCD leaders and activists were present during the distribution of the nomination papers.
The DU authority has started distributing Nomination forms for free of cost from February 19 and will be ended on February 25.
The aspirants will have to submit the filled-up nomination papers by February 26 from 9am-12pm.
The long awaited Ducsu and hall union elections are scheduled to be held on March 11 after remaining defunct for around 28 years.
