Amar Ekushey (21 February) is our consciousness and spirit. Amar Ekushey is a universal festival in Bangladesh as it awakens our genuine love for language and culture.

The 21st February is celebrated across the globe as an International Mother Language Day.

Though The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) provides message on the occasion, many people around the world are not aware of the mother language day. They don’t know why the day was set for an international event.

To uphold the event across the world, and to let the world people know the spirit of the Language Movement in 1952, two Bangladeshi expatriates from Stockholm, Sweden gave some effort to do the work.

They made a video where people gave their opinion about the 21st February in their mother tongue. They also wished that all the mother tongues might last long.

The video has recently been shot jointly by Rauful Alam, a doctoral researcher in Stockholm Univesity and Shovon Chowdhury, a master’s student of Södertörn University.

To spread the consciousness and spirit of the 21st February and International Mother Language Day across the globe, a total of 14 people of different mother tongues appear in the video and convey their love for their respective mother tongues.

They also expect that many people will get to know about the 21st of February in global arena after watching the video.
