Possible rise and fall in commodity prices

Dhaka: From sugar confectionary to mosquito coil, tissue paper to bricks, and chocolate to car tyres, prices of many commodities are likely to be affected with Finance Minister AMA Muhith’s presentation of the 44th national budget for the fiscal year 2015-16.
The financed minister placed Tk 2,95,100 crore budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year in Parliament on Thursday, with a deficit of Tk 86,657 crore.
Imposition, reduction and increase in Supplementary Duty (SD) will largely affect agricultural and industrial productions in the country ultimately affecting commodity prices.
While prices of different kinds of men, women and baby wears, jam, plastic kitchen ware, tissue paper, chocolate, biscuits, spectacles are likely to be reduced; increase in the prices of black tea, processed fish, tomato, motorbike, steel kitchenware, construction materials like bricks, blocks, glass, tiles, tyres are also expected.
