At least 25 dead, 107 injured in Saudi hospital fire

A fire at a hospital has left 25 dead and 107 injured in Saudi Arabia, officials said.
‘It is thought the blaze was on the first floor — where the maternity ward and intensive care unit are located’ reported itv.com.
‘The Saudi Civil Defence department said in a post on Facebook that the fire started at about 2.30am local time.’
‘The site was evacuated by emergency services and the fire brought under control.’
‘The cause of the blaze at Jazan General Hospital is unknown and an investigation is underway, Saudi Civil Defence officials said.’
It said that 21 civil defence teams had assisted in putting out the blaze.
Alriyadh daily quoted a civil defence spokesman as saying that the agency was alerted of the fire at 2:00am (2300 GMT).
In August, 10 people were killed and 259 wounded in a fire at a residential complex rented by oil giant Saudi Aramco in the kingdom's Eastern Province.
That fire was ignited by an electric short circuit in the underground parking where 130 cars were parked, the civil defence agency had said.
