Sales rise as Ekushey Book fair draws to end
Dhaka: As the curtain drew to a close on the Amar Ekushey Book Fair, visitors and sales reached new peaks.
Meanwhile, the number of books that entered the market was 93 today. For a change, many were works of non-fiction that included biographies, collection of writings and books on history.
The book that came up for wide discussion was the one on the police martyrs of the Liberation War. It was written by ADC of Police, Abida Sultana. The Inspector-General of Police A K M Shahidul Haq promoted the book at the fairgrounds.
Another book that was of great interest to readers was a book by Cultural Activist Golam Quddus on the politics in the period 1975 to ‘81.
Later in the afternoon, the main discussion was about Mohammad Nasir Ali’s birth centenary. Speakers recalled the immense contribution of Nasir Ali particularly to children’s literature.
