Honest businessmen will be benefitted in next budget: NBR chairman

Chittagong: Secretary of the Internal Resources Department (IRD) and Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Mohammad Nojibur Rahman on Saturday said honest businessmen will be benefitted in the upcoming budget.

‘NBR will take all kinds of steps against dishonest businessmen to materialize the vision 2021,’ he added.

The NBR chairman said the basic objectives of the upcoming budget are social development and security, poverty reduction, enhanced GDP and generation of more employment in the country.

The upcoming budget will consider economic ability and welfare of the mass people in the country, he added.

The NBR chairman said this as the chief guest while addressing a pre-budget views exchange meeting at Bangabandhu Conference hall of World Trade Center, arranged by Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) this morning.

Nojibur Rahman said the government will attach top priority to various socials sectors- Agriculture, Power, Communication, Human Resource, Health, Digital Technology and Education in the next budget.

CCCI president Mahbubul Alam who presided over the meeting said that they had placed 218 proposals including proposals on excise, value added tax (VAT) and income tax to the NBR chairman.

CCCI vice presidents Nur Nowaz Selim, Sayed Zamal Ahmed, NBR members- Farid Uddin, Barrister Jahangir Hossain and Parvej Iqbal, directors of CCCI, all custom commissioners, among others, took part in the discussion.

NBR Chairman also participated in another pre-budget meeting organized by Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and industries.
