Canadian woman died in her fiancé’s arms after London attack
A Canadian was among the seven people killed in the ‘senseless’ terror attack Saturday evening in London, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Sunday.
The Canadian woman killed during the attack in London was struck on London Bridge and died in her fiancé's arms, her fiancé's siblings say.
Christine Archibald, originally from Castlegar, B.C., was among the seven people killed Saturday night in what U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May has described as a ‘brutal terrorist attack,’ reports CBC News.
The 30-year-old woman was in London for the weekend with her fiancé, Tyler Ferguson. His sister, Cassie Ferguson, said her brother was with Archibald on the bridge during the attack.
‘He is broken into a million pieces,’ Ferguson's sister told CBC News in a Facebook Messenger conversation. ‘He held her and watched her die in his arms.’
Earlier, Trudeau said Canada ‘strongly condemns’ the van-and-knife assault that began on London Bridge and ended at a nearby market with scores of people badly injured. He said in a statement that he was ‘heartbroken that a Canadian is among those killed.’
The prime minister said Canada would continue to work with Britain and its other allies to fight terrorism. He added that ‘out of respect for the family’ no details on the victim would be provided for now.
