Trump offered meeting at Camp David to resolve Gulf crisis, says Qatar Emir
US President Donald Trump offered to host a meeting at the presidential retreat Camp David to help resolve the crisis, said Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The emir was speaking to US television journalist Charlie Ross at the show 60 Minutes which will air on CBS News on Sunday, reports the Qatar Today.
In the trailer of the show released by the television channel, the Emir said that Trump made the offer during their meeting on the sidelines of UN General Assembly in September. He welcomed the offer saying, ‘I have been asking for dialogue all along.’ The meeting is supposed to take place ‘very soon... but have not got any response’ from the blockading nations, Qatar Emir added.
Responding to the alleged military threats, the Emir commented that ‘if any military act happens, the region will be in chaos.’ Earlier, Kuwait Emir has mentioned about a military action by blockading countries which was averted by the mediation.
The Emir reiterated Qatar’s readiness for dialogue saying ‘if they going to walk one meter toward me, I’m willing to walk 10,000 miles towards them.’ HH however clarified that Qatar’s sovereignty is a red line and won’t accept anybody interfering in it.
