National footballer Sabina dies before arrival at hospital
Dhaka: Bangladesh women football suffered a big blow, as Sabina Yasmin, the promising forward of Bangladesh national U-15 women’s football team died on Tuesday afternoon.
Sabina, who was suffering from high fever for the last two days, was taken to Dhobauara upazila health complex from her Kalsindur village residence in Dhobauara upazila of Mymensingh after her condition deteriorated where doctors declared her dead at about 3:15pm.
Dhobauara upazila health complex emergency department physician Khademul Islam said, ‘Her family members have informed she was suffering from fever for the last two days. She was admitted into the hospital at about 3:15pm. But Sabina had died before she was admitted into the hospital.’
Kalasindur School and College acting principal Mala Rani Sarkar told NTV Online, ‘Sabina was not taken to doctors though she had been suffering from fever for two days. Sabina’s mother, may be, gave fever medicines to her after buying from a local drug store as the family is very poor.’
She left behind her father, mother, one brother and one sister and a large number of fans to mourn her death.
It was a tragedy as the 14-year-old budding footballer was scheduled to join the national U-15 training camp on Wednesday for the SAFF U-15 Championship to be held in Dhaka in December next.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin, its executive committee members, standing committee members, and staff and officers expressed deep shock at the immature death of the female footballer.
In a message of condolence, they prayed for salvation of the departed soul and expressed their sympathy to the bereaved family members.
