Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a nasty cut near his eye during Real Madrid‘s 7-1 victory over Deportivo La Coruna – and the forward had a novel way of checking the extent of his injury, reports the Metro.

As he netted Madrid’s sixth goal of the game with a header, Ronaldo’s face collided with Fabian Schar’s boot and the Portugal international was left on the floor with blood pouring out of his face.

After he was patched up by Madrid’s medical team, Ronaldo asked to use the doctor’s iPhone so that he could get a better look for himself. And the 32-year-old did not look happy as he noticed the cut to the side of his right eye.

The match did not start off well for Madrid after Adrian Lopez had put Deportivo ahead in the 23rd minute.

But Nacho and Gareth Bale struck to put Zinedine Zidane’s men ahead by half-time. Bale then netted his second of the game before Luka Modric scored his first goal in La Liga this season.

Ronaldo then scored twice to extend Madrid’s lead before Nacho wrapped up the 7-1 victory. The win puts Madrid 16 points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona, who play Real Betis on Sunday evening.
