Dhaka: Defending champions Dhaka Abahani Limited smartly clinched their 10th Federation Cup Football crown with unbeaten record beating their junior rivals Chittagong Abahani Limited by 3-1 goals in the final of the 29th version of the meet at the floodlight Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Tuesday.

With the day's feat, Dhaka Abahani not only retained the title of the country's one of the major soccer meets, but also maintained their unbeaten record playing 31 matches in the domestic league and tournament since last year.

Promising striker Nabib Newaj Jibon, Imon Mahmud and Nigerian striker Emeka Darlington scored one goal each for the popular sky-yellow Dhanmondi outfit.

Dhaka Abahani reached the final with unbeaten record beating Sheikh Jamal DC 1-0 in the semifinal and defeating Brothers Union 2-1 in the quarterfinal.

They played to 1-1 draw with newcomer Saif SC and beat Muktijoddha Sangsad KC 1-0 in group encounters.

Chittagong Abahani booked a seat for the final beating Rahmatganj MFS 1-0 in the semifinal and Sheikh Russel KC 4-2 in tie-breaker after 1-1 draw in the stipulated time of quarterfinal.

They beat Mohammedan SC 2-1 and Arambagh KS also by 2-1 goals in the group matches.
