Iran test-fires new generation of ballistic missiles

Dhaka: Iranian defence minister announced on Sunday that a long-range surface-to-surface missile dubbed ‘Emad’ (Pillar) as new generation of the ballistic missiles was test-fired successfully, reports IRNA.
Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said, ‘Defence Ministry’s strategy is to develop and complete the armed forces’ missile capability and strengthen the defence power.’
He said Emad has been designed and built by the Iranian experts.
Emad, he said, is the first Iran’s long-range missile that can be directed and controlled till it strikes the target.
Emad is also capable of scrutinizing the targets and destroying them completely, the minister said.
‘To follow our defence programmes, we don’t ask permission from anyone,’ stressed Dehqan.
