Woman falls to death from second-storey window while taking selfie
A young woman plunged to her death from a second-floor window while trying to take a selfie, reports Mirror.
Toni Kelly, from New Zealand, reportedly died from brain injuries while living in London.
She moved to the UK in August, according to social media, and it is believed she died while trying to snap a photo from an upstairs window.
Her organs have been donated to hospital patients in the UK to save other lives, according to a fundraising page to help her devastated family.
The givealittle.co.nz page was set up to help cover the costs of transporting her body back to New Zealand.
The page said: ‘Toni was a young, happy and beautiful girl who has had a tragic accident while living overseas in London.
‘Unfortunately Toni has sadly passed away due to her injuries. In her death Toni’s organs have been donated to help save other lives in the UK.
‘This money will help the family bring Toni home and pay for any extra expenses. Any donation, big or small will be appreciated by all of her family and friends.’
The page has so far raised nearly $37,000 (£19,000).
Paige Hourigan, Toni’s primary school friend, told Daily Mail Australia how she was ‘the girl who was always smiling’ and ‘the most fun to be around’.
She added: ‘When we were young Toni was one of those people that never had anything bad to say about anyone, she was super girly, laid back and fun which I loved.
‘I remember just laughing and giggling with her all the time about nothing. She was a beautiful girl that will definitely always be remembered, especially for that smile.’
Toni’s grieving sister Stacey thanked those who had donated to the fundraising appeal.
She wrote on Facebook, according to the New Zealand Herald: ‘I just wanna say thank you from the bottom of my heart for the endless support so far.
‘Also a huge thank you to the girls who thought of & created this beautiful page for our baby girl. We are completely lost for words & can’t wait to be home.’
A wellwisher wrote on the donations page: ‘So sad to hear this! Thoughts are with family and friends at this difficult time.’
Gayla Andrews added: ‘So tragic......our deepest sympathy to all concerned.’
Another said: ‘Loved Toni, she was so sweet and fun loving. Hope the family get her back soon xox.’
And Maureen Leonard wrote: ‘Our son died in very similar circumstances in London 8yrs ago. So very sad to lose a child at such a young age and so wrong !! My thoughts are with you all and especially Toni’s family. Sending prayers and love.’
