Callao, Peru: A nine-year-old girl who was allegedly raped up to 10 times a day by her stepfather is now five months pregnant , it’s been revealed.

Her mother discovered the pregnancy - and the crime - when she noticed her daughter was developing a large bump on her stomach.

The mother, who Mirror Online has chosen not to name, took her daughter to a private medical centre where an ultrasound revealed she was five months pregnant.

She then found out her daughter had been raped, allegedly by her 30-year-old stepfather.

According to the girl, the she was abused in the house when other family members were out as much as 10 times a day.

The stepfather has since fled the family’s home in Ventanilla, in the central Peruvian province of Callao in Peru. His whereabouts remain unknown.

The family have request the full of weight of the law is brought against the stepfather, and have request financial aid for the legal and psychological support they will need in the coming months.

The girl is expected to carry the baby to term, as it is too late to have an abortion.

It is not known how the baby will be cared for when it arrives.

Peru’s Minister for Women, Ana Maria Choquehuanca, has said guidelines are in place to give the abusers of minors maximum sentences.
