An unemployed man 'sold his car' to produce, direct, and star in his own ad campaign in the hope of landing a job.

Psychology post-graduate Scott Overend, from Dublin, Ireland, has dreams of working in advertising and marketing.

But agencies are struggling. A volatile market means companies are slashing their advertising spend. It's made getting a job in marketing more difficult, and Brexit has only compounded the problem, reports the Mirror.

Scott's search has clearly proven unfruitful until now. So Scott decided to become 'self-directed'.

In the film, Scott imagines an over-the-top, tongue-in-cheek advertising campaign film – the one he would have made had he 'sold his Peugeot 206 to fund it'.

The video is epic and ridiculous. There are philosophical thought processes and burly men ploughing fields.

‘I’d build a team to convert my ideas into the physical realm’, Scott explains.

‘If I created a genuine advertising campaign to find a copywriting position, it would closely resemble the campaign on the website in almost every way’.

Scott insists that it's only the campaign he would have done...had he needed to. It's all quite bizarre.

A lot of people have been enjoying Scott's film It's been racking up the views on YouTube, but in the last couple of days, it's really started striking a chord.

Will it get Scott a job? Who knows. We hope so. ‘Can I self-direct the direction of my own self?’ Scott asks.
