UN imposes arms embargo on Yemen rebels

DHAKA: United Nations Security Council has passed a resolution on Yemen and imposed an arms embargo on the Houthi rebels fighting Saudi Arabia-backed government.
The 15-member council passed the resolution on Tuesday, with 13 countries voting in favour while one —Russia — abstained, reports Al Jazeera.
Russia, one of the five permanent of the Secuirty Council, said the embargo should have been imposed on the whole country.
Al Jazeera reported that the resolution blacklisted former President Ali Abdullah Saleh and his son as well as three Houthi leaders.
