6 Bangladeshi workers killed in Saudi Arabia road crash
Dhaka: Six Bangladeshi workers, including two siblings, were killed while another was injured in a road accident near Qatif municipality area at Dammam in Saudi Arabia on Thursday morning.
The victims are Shahidul and his brother Babul, son of Abdul Hakim hailing from Ujirpur, Barisal; Rafiqul Islam, son of Shahidul Hawladar, Patuakhali, Sirajul Islam, son of Abdul Hakim, Rana Sahabuddin, Bhola and Sharif, son of Abu Bakar.
The accident took place when a car carrying the workers collided with another one at Qatif town, 350 kilometres off capital Riyadh on Jubail-Dharan Highway at about 11:00am.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Golam Moshi told NTV Online that six people are reported dead but awaiting final confirmation.
He said another Bangladesh national Saiful Islam was injured in the accident. He was admitted to a local hospital.
The envoy, however, could not give further details on how the accident took place.
Officials from the Bangladesh Mission moved to the spot to have further details, he said.
