Couple hailed online for $1 wedding
Who does not know the age-old proverb ‘cut your coat according to your clothe’?
However, Wilson, 27, and Ann Mutura, 24, have become viral sensations for the exact execution of the proverb. They have been hailed online for their modesty, case in point, their frugal wedding which they attended in what people would refer to as ‘house clothes’.
‘Wilson and Ann Mutura postponed their wedding twice in 2016 because they were unable to raise the $300 (£240) fee’, reports BBC.
The duo decided to get married this year with the minimum of expense.
The young couple opted for a simple wedding that cost them about $1.
‘The amount catered for the rings they exchanged during their wedding ceremony, which saw both of them, wear T-shirts, there was no celebration after they exchanged vows’, reports africanews.com.
The husband is quoted by eDaily news portal as saying, ‘‘We went home, cooked ugali and sukuma wiki (a Kenyan delicacy), ate and slept. There was nothing special that we did on our honeymoon.’
‘For their modest wedding which took Kenyan social media space by storm, a travel and tours company, Bonfire Adventures, on Friday announced a fully paid honeymoon package for them.’
‘Their ceremony reached social media after the priest who officiated it shared their story on Facebook. Officials of the tour company visited the couple and made a presentation to them. They get a fully paid 5-day honeymoon to the Kenyan city of Mombasa where they will stay in a four-star hotel.’
