Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: The first-ever Arab-Islamic-American (AIA) Summit kicked off here on Sunday afternoon with the slogan "Together We Prevail".

Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud inaugurated the summit at King Abdul Aziz International Conference Center in the Saudi capital, and made his inaugural speech.

Later, US President Donald Trump, who is now in the KSA on his first official trip abroad, in his speech said the fight against extremism was not "a battle between different faiths" but "a battle between good and evil".

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the US President and 56 Arab and Muslim leaders joined this highly anticipated event, the first of its kind in history, to discuss ways to combat extremism and illicit financing.

Other leaders who attended the summit included Emirs of Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, the King of Bahrain, the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, Presidents of Egypt, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Benin, Lebanon, Mauritania, Tunisia, Palestine, Iraq, Niger, Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Chairman of Algerian Parliament and the foreign minister of Uganda.

Sheikh Hasina was scheduled to deliver her speech later in the evening when she is expected to put forward a number of proposals.

The main objective of the summit is to establish a new partnership to face the challenges of global terrorism and militancy, expand values of tolerance and coexistence and strengthen efforts for ensuring peace and stability.

Earlier on her arrival at the venue, the Bangladesh Prime Minister was received by the Saudi King. At that time, the two leaders exchanged greetings.
