Gunfight kills 21, wounds 10 at Afghan wedding
Dhaka: At least 21 people were killed when a gunfight broke out at a wedding party in northern Afghanistan, officials said on Monday, reported Associated Press.
‘Clashes erupted Sunday night between armed men at a wedding ceremony in Deh Salah district of Baghlan province. As a result 21 people were killed and 10 others were wounded,’ provincial police spokesman Jawed Basharat, reported AFP.
Most of the dead were wedding guests aged from 14 years old to 60 years old, he says. Baghlan and other provinces of the north have been plagued by insurgency since the war against the Taliban started in 2001. However, the war is often a cover for criminal activity and personal feuds.
