Taliban leader Mullah Omar ‘is dead’
Dhaka: The leader of the Afghan Taliban, Mullah Mohammed Omar, has died, reported BBC quoting Afghan officials. The report, however, said the militant group has not commented on the claim.
Afghan government and intelligence sources said the reclusive leader died two to three years ago. No further details were released.
According to the BBC report, a Taliban spokesman contacted the media saying the group would issue a statement shortly.
There have been several reports of Mullah Omar’s death in the past.
