Islamic State (IS) militants have burned to death 45 people in Iraq, reports BBC quoting a local police official.
The reported killing took place in al-Baghdadi, a western Iraqi town, said the town’s police chief Colonel Qasim al-Obeidi.
The identities of the victims and the motive behind their killing could not be immediately verified by any independent source.
Qasim al-Obeidi, however, believed that there might have been members of the security forces among the persons killed.
BBC report, published on Tuesday, also quoted the police chief as saying that residences of the security personnel in the town were under attack, and asking for international intervention.
