Imagine you, along with two of your associates, are taking a stroll in famous visiting spots of Delhi. After visiting Qutub Minar, you feel hungry and then take food from a restaurant. But upon paying the bill it strike to all of you that you are left with money not suffice to collect the return tickets for all three for a train journey to Kolkata.

So three of you have to come back to Kolkata with a single ticket and in this travel, you have to dodge the ticket checker and police very tactfully remaining mindful lest you land behind the bars.

This turn of event unfolded in the young life of Bangabandhu and how he along with his friends managed to evade the ticket checker are clearly illustrated in the fourth part of Mujib Graphic Novel series launched on Friday at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair, reports the UNB.

Apart from revealing the story of Bangabandhu’s journey to and from Delhi to Calcutta, another interesting feature included is an altercation between young Mujib and then his political mentor Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy.

Unveiling the book, Radwan Mujib Siddiq, a trustee of nonprofit research organization, Center for Research and Information (CRI), said this edition clearly projected some twisting turns of Bangabandhu’s student life with an aim to inform young readers that Bangabandhu was not born with a golden spoon.

In his student life he had to face the odds typical of those other youths do.  He led a very ordinary life without inheriting any great fortune and emerged as the architect of independence of Bangladesh.

Radwan, also a publisher of this book, recalled the heroic sacrifices of language martyrs for whose contribution, he added, ‘we are getting such Bangla books and comics.’ 

Later he went at the bookstall set up by CRI (stall no 100/119 inside Bangla Academy) and presented a band of kids with complimentary copies of the newly released edition of the graphic novel.

The entire graphic novel series is based on the ‘The Unfinished Memoirs’ of Bangabandhu, written during his incarceration. This is being presented in 12 parts of the graphic novel series in an initiative mainly aimed at raising keenness among children and teenagers to learn about the Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the nation’s history.

CRI plans to release eight more parts of the series in turn (in total it is a 12-part series). Cartoonist Sayed Rashad Imam Tonmoy said it was a difficult task to portray the life of Bangladesh’s founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a graphic novel, Nasrul Hamid Bipu, state minister for power energy and mineral resources, Tarana Halim, state minister for Information, Junaid Ahmed Palak, ICT state minister among others were present at the event. 

The previously released Mujib-3 highlights the post-World War II period of the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, during which he arranged for food for the starving people in his locality while Mujib – 2 of the series, covers the political rise of Bangabandhu and his growing ties with his political mentor Shaheed Suhrawardy along with an important football match between the young Mujib and his father.
