Today marks the 4th death anniversary of popular fiction writer, playwright and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed.

Different socio-cultural organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes to mark the day.

A religious fuction will be held at Nuhas Palli, the most favourite retreat of the popular writer, after Johr prayers. Orphans will also be fed with Humayun Ahmed’s favourite food, reports UNB.

Volunteer organisation ‘Himu Paribahan’ will organise a seminar, blood donation camp, and essay and painting competition on Humayun Ahmed.

It will also distribute leaflets among people to create awareness about cancer.

Meanwhile, Facebook group ‘Humayuner Vubhan’ will organise a trip to Nuhas Palli from Shahbagh in the city to encourage people to read the writings of Humayun Ahmed.

Besides, a theatre troupe named ‘Mad Theatre’ will stage their production ‘Naddio Natim’ adopted from the novel ‘K Kotha koy’ by the late legendary writer at Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Born on 13 November 1948, Humayun Ahmed died on July 19, 2012 at Bellevue Hospital, New York, at the age of 64 after a nine-month battle against prostate cancer.
