Dhaka: A ceremony to launch the third instalment of a graphic novel series depicting the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, ‘Mujib-3’,  was held Sunday as part of the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela.

The Centre for Research and Information (CRI), research wing of the Awami League, hosted the ceremony at their stall (no. 100-101) on the Bangla Academy premises.

The series, using the graphic novel format to bring to life a part of Bangabandhu’s life as extracted from his own Unfinished Memoirs, first appeared on the occasion of National Children's Day on March 17, 2015, followed by the second instalment during last year’s Boi Mela.  

State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid, Cultural Affairs Minister Asauzzaman Noor, and cartoonist Rashed Imam Tanmoy, who illustrated the series, were present at the launching.

The third instalment focuses on the role of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a young organizer during the post-World War II period, with famine having struck the Indian subcontinent.

It contains the story of how Bangabandhu faced down a number of obstacles and discourteous behavior from established leaders of influential countries in organizing a conference calling for emergency aid for the affected population.

His eventual success was a reflection of the “organizational skill and determination” that characterized the Father of the Nation, according to the synopsis.

It was announced that ‘The Unfinished Memoirs’ would be presented in 12 parts in the graphic novel format.
