16 gold bars seized, 1 held
Benapole: Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Tuesday seized sixteen gold bars weighing 1.6 kilograms at Benapole land port, said Lieutenant Colonel Jahangir Hossain, commanding officer, 26 Border Guard Battalion.
A person named Hanif Ali, in his thirties, of Gatipara village under Benapole port police station, was detained in this connection.
The BGB CO said, BGB members found the gold bars at about 11:00am searching the sandals of Hanif Ali.
‘The gold bars, which were kept inside the soles of the sandals, are worth about Tk 70 lakh and were being carried towards India,’ he added.
A case has been filed in this connection.
