Khulna: A court in Khulna on Tuesday fixed 5 October for framing charges against the accused in 12-year-old boy Rakib killing case.

Additional Metropolitan Session Judge of Khulna Dilruba Sultana fixed the date after a hearing on the case on Tuesday and rejected the bail petition of the accused.

On 3 August, Rakib, who used to work at a motorcycle garage at Tutpara Central Road in Khulna city, was tortured to death allegedly by his former employer over quitting job.

Alam Haldar, victim’s father, filed a case with Sadar Police Station against three people–Sharif, Mintu and Beauty Begum–after the brutal killing.

Following the incident, agitated public handed the accused over to the police after giving them a mass beating.

Later, Mintu Khan, a so-called uncle of M Omar Sharif, the prime accused in the case, Sharif and his mother Beauty Begum reportedly confessed their involvement with the gruesome killing.

On 25 August, Sub-inspector Quazi Mostak Ahmed, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge sheet naming the trio.

On 6 September, the Metropolitan Court sent the case to the Metropolitan Session Court.
