Satkhira: Police arrested an NGO director in Shyamnagar upazila headquarters on Saturday for making disparaging remarks about hajj on his Facebook account.

The arrestee is Mohan Kumar Mondal, a director of the non-governmental organisation ‘Leaders’.

Enamul Hauqe, officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar Police Station, said Mohan posted a comment on his Facebook account about Saudi hajj stampede in the morning.

Following the post, local Awami league leader and upazila press club president Akbar Kabir filed a case under the ICT Act at noon.

Later, police arrested the NGO director from his office at bus stand area in the upazila headquarters. They also detained Mohan’s colleague Shawkat Hossain at that time.
