Jakiganj upazila chairman suspended

Sylhet: Jakiganj upazila chairman and BNP leader Iqbal Ahmed was suspended on Sunday as he has been indicted in the charge sheet of a case in connection with violence.
Iqbal Ahmed, former president of Jakiganj upazila BNP and a present member of the present convening committee, has been accused in a case for a clash that took place in the upazila after organising secretary of BNP’s central committee M Ilias Ali went missing.
Awami League’s upazila unit leader filed a case in connection with the clash accusing Iqbal.
A Sylhet court recently accepted the charge sheet of the case.
Later, the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry suspended him in this connection.
Upazila executive officer Titon Khisa said he received a letter from the ministry in this connection.
