Rajbari: A man was stabbed to death and five others, including two women, were injured by rivals over a trivial matter at Deulia village in Kalukhali upazila in Rajbari on Sunday night.

The deceased is Abdul Jabbar, a resident of the village.

The victim’s brother Azad Mollah said Hriday, grandson of Khorshed Mollah of the village, cut some branches from a mehedi tree of Jalil Mollah on Saturday.

Later, Khorshed Mollah got angry as Jalil Mollah informed him about the matter seeking punishment for the act of his grandson.

As a sequel to this, the men of Khurshed attacked on Jalil’s house at about 11:30pm with sharp weapons.

They stabbed the house inmates, leaving Jabbar dead on the spot and five others injured.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said the Kalukhali police.

Police also arrested Khorshed and four others, including a woman, in this connection.
