Dhaka: Eleven people received burn injuries as a fire broke out at a spinning mill in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj in early hours of Thursday; and eight of the victims were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

Fire Service Headquarters duty officer Farhaduzzaman said the fire erupted from excess heat of machineries at Noab Ali Spinning Mill at Tatki Jatramura in the upazila around 2:15am and it soon spread to the entire mill.

Informed, three firefighting units from Demra rushed in and doused the blaze after one hour of frantic efforts.

Local sources said at least 11 people sustained burn injuries as they tried to douse the flame.

Eight of the victims were admitted to the burn unit of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, said in-charge of the hospital police outpost Mozammel Hoque.
