Jessore: A court in Jessore on Wednesday sentenced a man to death for killing a rickshaw-van puller at Nirbaskhola village under Jhikargachha upazila in Jessore in 2008.

Special Judge of District and Sessions Judge Court Nitai Chandra Saha handed down the verdict.

According to court official, the convict Faruq Hossain is son of Abid Ali, a resident of the same area.

According to the prosecution, Faruq chopped Billal, son of Amir Sheikh, also a resident of the same area to death on 31 August 2008.

After the incident, victim's father filed a murder case with Jhikargachha police station.

After investigation, police submitted charge-sheet to the court against Faruq.
