Patuakhali: A ferry carrying over 400 passengers with 5 busses and 7 Micro buses went out of order after being stuck to a hidden shoal in the middle of River Lebukhali in Patuakhali on Wednesday night.

The ferry was the only ferry that was operating in that rout and the accident left a good number of passenger vehicles waiting on both sides of the river as people are coming back to Dhaka after Eid-ul-Azha vacation.

Jahirul Islam, executive engineer of the Roads and Highways Department in Patuakhali, said the alternative ferry is out of service and that is why the long tailback has been created on both sides of the river on the Patuakhali-Barishal Highway.

The ferry cannot operate until the time of the high tide, he added.
