Outlaw found dead

Kushtia: Police recovered the bullet-hit body of an outlawed party leader at Kumarkhali upazila in Kushtia on Friday morning.
The deceased is Rabiul Islam alias Bere Robi, in his forties, former regional head of banned Gano Mukti Fouj and son of Suro Mollah of Poranpur village in Sadar upazila of Jhenaidah district, said Jhenidah Sadar police officer-in-charge Hasan Hafizur Rahman.
Locals spotted a bullet-hit body with the victim’s hands tied in a field in the morning and informed police.
Later, the law enforcers recovered the body at about 11:00am and sent it to hospital for autopsy.
Hasan Hafizur said Robi was wanted in 12 cases filed with different police stations in Jhenaidah.
He returned to normal life after surrendering arms to then Home Minister Mohammad Nasim in 1999. He was arrested from a Jessore hotel in 2000.
Robi was released from jail 8-9 months ago. He again got involved in criminal activities after his release from the jail, the OC added.
