Sylhet: A man and his two sons were killed when a truck knocked down them at Begumpur Bazar in Osmaninagar upazila in Sylhet on Thursday night.

The deceased are Arju Mia, and his two sons—Kaiyum, and Shahid Mia, of Konapara village in the upazila.

The Dhaka-Sylhet Highway police officer-in-charge Nurunnabi said the accident took place in the area at about 8:00pm when a Sherpur-bound truck from Sylhet ran over them while crossing the road, leaving one person dead on the spot and two others injured.

Later the injured died on way to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Police recovered the bodies and sent those to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

However, police seized the truck but could not arrest its driver as he managed to flee.

The trio went to Sherpur for seeing a doctor and met the tragic accident while returning home, added police.
