4 in 5-day police custody over Pabna cop murder

Pabna: A Pabna court on Sunday placed four people on a five-day remand each in a case filed for killing a policeman in Ishawardi.
Those who remanded are Khokon Hossain, 32, of Jugtitala village in Ishawrdi upazila, Jony Pramanik, 21, of Baghail Pachshimpara village, Masud Rana, 25, of Thakurpara village, and Setu Hossain, 26, of Pakshi Babupara village in the same upazila.
Judge of Pabna Cognizance court-2 Rejaul Karim passed the order when sub-inspector of Ishwardi Police Station Abu Wabayed, also investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court seeking a 10-day remand for each.
Assistant sub-inspector of Pakshi police camp Sujaul Islam, 35, hailing from sadar upazila of Bogra district, was found dead at a field near Pakshi Paper Mill in Pakshi upazila of the district on the morning of 5 October.
The body bore several injury marks including in the head and neck.
Police filed a case with Pakshi Police Station against unidentified miscreants on the same day.
On 7 October, a police team in separate drives arrested the four people from different areas of the upazila for their suspected link with the murder.
