Lawmaker Liton taken to Gaibandha after arrest

Gaibandha: Awami League lawmaker Manjurul Islam Liton, from Gaibandha 1 constituency, who was arrested on Wednesday on charge of shooting a minor boy, was taken to Gaibandha on Thursday morning.
Amid tight security, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police took him to police super’s office in the district at about 6:00am.
Detectives arrested Manjurul Islam Liton in the city’s Uttara area on Wednesday night.
The arrest came hours after the Supreme Court (SC) stayed a High Court order that directed the ruling party MP to surrender before a lower court by October 18 in a case for shooting the minor boy.
The SC passed the order on Wednesday following a petition filed by the state on Tuesday seeking a stay on the HC order.

A two-member bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Bhishmadev

Earlier on Sunday, the Gaibandha-1 constituency lawmaker filed the petition with the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the case.
