BNP pays respects to language heroes

Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Saturday paid respects to the martyrs of the historic Language Movement marking the 'Amar Ekushey', the Language Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day.
A BNP delegation, led by BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s adviser Enam Ahmed Chowdhury, along with activists of the party and its front organisations went to the Central Shaheed Minar in the morning and placed a wreath there to pay homage to the language martyrs on behalf of the party, Khaleda’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan told UNB.
However, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia skipped the Central Shaheed Minar this year.
Meanwhile, BNP will arrange a doa mahfil at the party chairperson’s Gulshan political office after Asr prayers today seeking salvation of the departed souls of the language martyrs.
