Jhenidah: Two drivers of a truck and a covered van were killed and two helpers injured as the covered van hit the truck in Shrirampur area of Shailkupa upazila in Jhinaidah early on Monday.

The deceased is truck driver Abdur Rahman, a resident of Monirampur upazila of Jessore district, and covered van driver Dalim, from Shangkarpur area of Jessore.

MA Hashem Khan, officer-in-charge of Shailkupa Police Station, said the accident took place in the area at about 5:30am when the speeding covered van hit the stationary sand-laden truck, leaving two drivers dead on the spot and two helpers injured.

Later, police recovered the bodies.

The accident took place as the helper was driving the covered van, added the OC.

The injured were admitted to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital.
