6 killed as train hits auto-rickshaw

Jamalpur: At least six people, including four members of a family, were killed as a commuter train smashed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Nayanagar Digholbari level-crossing in Melandaha upazila in Jamalpur on Monday.
One of the deceased is auto-rickshaw driver Hashu, of Nayanagar of the upazila.
The Melandaha police said the Dhaka-bound commuter train from Dewanganj hit the CNG-run auto-rickshaw as it tried to cross the unauthorised level-crossing at about 2:00pm, leaving all the CNG passengers dead on the spot.
Police said the bodies were found scattered on both sides of the rail tracks.
The accident took place when Hashu was going to Melandaha Bazar along with his family members and relatives, said the law enforcers.
Police went to the spot for recovering the bodies immediately after the accident.
