Thakurgaon: Two people were killed and six others injured when a three-wheeler vehicle collided head-on with a wood-laden tractor on Baliadangi-Ranisankail road in Ranisankail upazila of the district on Sunday night.

The victims were identified as Sharif, 35, son of Belal Hossain of Jadurani village under Haripur upazila and Liton, 32, of Nekmard village under Ranisankail upazila.

The injured are Alyea, 29, Saju, 20, Babu, 30, Bilkis, 32, Jui, 3, and Ashraful, 30. They were admitted to Ranisankail Upazila Health Complex and Dinajpur Medical College Hospital. Seriously injured Saju and Ashraful were sent to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Quoting witnesses police said the accident occurred when a three-wheeler collided head-on with a tractor coming from the opposite direction, leaving two people dead on the spot and six others injured.

Officer-in-Charge of Ranisankail Police Station Sukumar Mohonto confirmed the incident.

None was arrested in this connection. However, police seized both the vehicles.

A case was filed with the concerned police station.
