Sunamganj: The local administration has slapped section 144 in Jamalganj upazila and its adjacent Sachna Bazar area as two groups of local BNP called separate meetings at the same place at the same time.

The restriction will remain in force from 6:00am to 6:00pm on Tuesday.

Locals said two groups of BNP—one led by Nurul Haque Afindi and the other by Azizul Haque—called meetings at Teliapara in the upazila headquarters on Tuesday.

Later, Jamalganj upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) S M Shafi Kamal imposed the ban to avoid any untoward incident and maintain law and order.
