Netrakona: A Netrokona court on Thursday sentenced four people to life term imprisonment for killing a man in 2009.

The lifers are Rahim Uddin, Sabuj Miah, Kazimuddin, and Diren Sangma, residents of Baromari village in Durgapur upazila in Netrakona.

All the convicts were fined Tk 20,000 each, in default, to suffer two years more rigorous imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, Satyaban Hajong, a resident of Baromari village in Durgapur upazila, was beaten to death by the convicts on his way to his relative’s house on April 23, 2009 following previous enmity.

Tushil Hajong, father of the deceased, filed a murder case against the four people on April 24, 2009.

Police submitted chargesheet against them on September 28, 2009.

After examining the records and 15 witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Hamid handed down the verdict.
